THE WAY COACHES LEARN HAS FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGED.
Coaches are turning to online resources for answers. From YouTube Channels to Twitter links and Facebook Groups, the online world provides a constant stream of content for coaches.
Coaches are self-directed. They are hungry for knowledge.
But, with so many conflicting streams of information, how can we ensure that coaches are learning from reliable, research-based sources? How can we make it easy for coaches to find high-quality content?
Coaches need a filter to define quality.
Continued professional development (CPD) events, such as coaching badges and courses, will continue to be a part of the coach education landscape. However, limited calendar dates, high pricing and travel time can limit participation. And does the learning stop when courses end?
Coach education has evolved.
Coaches want to align with communities of like-minded people where they can share ideas, learn from quality content, and ultimately work to improve the environments they create for their players. A significant part of the learning material that coaches engage with is online.

THE BACKGROUND
Player Development Project was founded in response to the disconnect between the latest player development research, and what was happening on the training field.
We aim to challenge the thinking, practices and culture surrounding sport, and player development. The project gives a voice to pioneers in player development, with the most progressive coaches, academics and development specialists providing insights into the latest player development ideas.
Our Goal: To create a community of coaches who are armed with the latest research, practical tools, and big ideas to unleash the potential of their players.
We consistently provide high-level resources for our members to develop their understanding of the athletes they work with, in order to create better people, and better players.
Player Development Project is run by a team of coaches, researchers, writers, designers, and developers. We’re committed to affecting positive change in player development environments.
