Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger marks 20 years since his appointment at the club in September. Since arriving in North London in September 1996, Wenger is credited with revolutionising English football.
Wenger arrived at Arsenal from the Japanese league and brought with him some ideas which, at the time, seemed totally alien to English football. Indeed, when he joined the English game he was the only other ‘foreign’ coach aside from Ruud Gullit at Chelsea. He changed his players’ diets and drinking habits, and was met with suspicion and scepticism.
