In this Masterclass Discussion, PDP Editor Dave Wright hosts Brisbane Roar Academy Director, Drew Sherman for an insightful conversation on youth development.
Drew shares his own personal experiences from England, to the Cook Islands and now Australia, discussing key lessons on the way. We discuss the development of the brand new Brisbane Roar academy and some of the challenges faced in bringing bringing youth development to A League.
Drew Sherman is the Academy Director at Brisbane Roar. Drew is a holder of both his Pro License and FA Advanced Youth License. At 21 he became the youngest person in Europe to obtain his UEFA A License and by 23 he had been appointed as the youngest Academy Director in the English Football League. His career saw him then recruited to work in the world-renowned Southampton’s Academy, specifically with players between the ages of 12-16 years old.
Prior to joining us here at Brisbane Roar, Drew spent 18 months as National Team Manager and Technical Director of the Cook Islands Football Association.
