Birmingham City FC are a founding partner club of PDP and in May 2019, they put on an event called the Learning Tribes Conference 2019. In this round table video discussion, Dave Wright & Dan Wright review the event with three of the team from Birmingham City FC.

BCFC Lead Youth Development Phase Coach, Mike Dodds was tasked with putting on an event for coaches by the team at BCFC Academy. Inspired by Co-Founder of the Magic Academy and top rugby coach, Russell Earnshaw, Mike created the 2019 Learning Tribes Conference.

With almost 100 people in attendance, Mike managed to put four ‘Learning Tribes’ together, all with the overarching theme of ‘Players that think like coaches, and coaches that think like players’. The Tribes undertook a day of conversation, presentations and concluded with 5-a-side and other games at the club’s home ground of St Andrews. The overwhelming feedback from attendees was exceptionally positive and the focus now is to keep the event alive and build on the connections that were made.

See the video below for the review of the day with Mike Dodds, Danny Barham and James Brayne. For more information on how the event unfolded, check out the hashtag, #ASharedJourney on Twitter. Congratulations to all of the staff involved at Birmingham City FC for putting on such a top event.
